Kitchen Trends: Building Designs to Consider
Conversational Kitchen Islands
Small island kitchens are a thing of the past. The larger the workspace and ability to gather in the kitchen, the better! Expanding your kitchen by including a conversational kitchen island is helpful not only to allow for me people to spend time in the kitchen, but it also gives you more places for eating or baking.
One of our recent kitchen projects includes two of these kitchen islands for expanded gathering space and to help fulfill cooking needs for both Hal and Deb.
Eat-In Kitchens
Why expand your kitchen to include a dining set for the family?
Some people are not as huge of a fan of the expanded island space kitchen trend, according to Southern Living, so there has been a return of bringing in the dining room table into the kitchen. Having an eat-in kitchen makes this culinary space more personal not just for the person cooking, but also for guests and for family.
This concept also allows for any kitchen islands or countertop spaces to be used strictly for cooking, so if there is ever a fight for kitchen space, having a table where people can gather may be of better assistance than having an expanded kitchen island.
Concealed Kitchens, Extra Workspace, and Efficiency
What do both islands and eat-in kitchens emphasize? A need for kitchen space and efficiency! If you feel the need to expand your kitchen, check to make sure you using your current space efficiently. If you are, then we recommend expanding your kitchen in your upcoming remodel.
If you don’t want to expand your kitchen, concealed kitchens or secondary spaces are also growing in popularity. A lot of these trends are also influenced by the current style of your kitchen. If you have a smaller home, a secondary kitchen space may include additional storage for ingredients or, essentially, act like a walk-in cabinet or butler’s pantry.
Design Trends
Colorful Cabinets
White cabinets are beautiful and create elegance in your kitchen, and colorful kitchen cabinets add a new, zesty boldness for your home! Colorful kitchen cabinets are gaining popularity this year. According to House Beautiful, you’re likely gong to see a lot of yellows and reds in your cabinets. Color combinations will also be popular, like some blues and reds to create a “freshness” for your kitchen.
Bold Colors (Especially Green)
What other bold colors can we expect in 2025 kitchen trends? Green is still here and is planning on keeping its stay for years to come!
A deep forest green works great in most kitchen designs, including kitchens more farmhouse style or more modern. This helps to create more of an “earthy” or peaceful feel to the kitchen.
You can also expect to see some more bolder green colors like emerald as these colors tend to be easier to add into your kitchen design.
Warm Wood Tones in Kitchen Trends
If you are a fan of keeping things earthy or classic, warm wood tones are going to also grow in popularity this year. We saw this in one of our kitchens from 2023. The deep natural wood designs help your home feel rich and old-fashioned (in a good way).
Backsplash and Walls Used as Art
Elle Décor mentioned that backsplashes and walls will be used in a more artistic feel for 2025. It makes it more whimsical and romantic in your home or apartment. This aesthetic can be found in both backsplashes and in wallpaper for the kitchen. Floral patterns are especially in with lighter colored cabinets and backsplash designs.
Bonus: Outdoor Bar & Kitchen Designs
This topic will be fully covered in next week’s blog post, but outdoor kitchens are a continued trend from out of the beginning of the 2020s. Having a space where both guests and cooks can gather together in an outdoor setting creates special summer memories.
You can also utilitze this space in the other seasons, depending on how you plan to heat the outdoor spaces and what you plan to cook in the kitchen. You can add onto this by creating a firepit with built-in seating or designing a four-seasons room that guests can escape into.
